Though the streets are empty and lined with cars in this archived image of Bergen Street looking northwards of Flatbush Avenue, Park Slope is a common destination for all people in Brooklyn and particularly a place where Black Brooklyn have rented and owned businesses and homes, attended school, and much more. More significantly, Flatbush has been a historically dividing line between the communities of Black Brooklyn and other communities in the borough.[1]
